Israel rejects the "shameful resolution" of the UN General Assembly, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said in his X (former Twitter).
"We categorically reject the shameful call of the UN General Assembly for a ceasefire," he wrote. According to him, the Israeli authorities intend to "destroy Hamas in the same way as the world did with the Nazis and ISIS (Islamic State, a terrorist organization banned in Russia)," he wrote.
On Friday evening, several resolutions on the war between Israel and Hamas were considered at a meeting of the UN General Assembly. At first, the project was considered, which was introduced by Canada. It proposed recognizing Hamas as a terrorist organization. However, he did not get the required number of votes — the USA, Canada, Israel, EU countries voted for, Russia, China and most Muslim countries voted against.
Later, the Jordanian draft was adopted, which called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and truce. It was supported by 120 countries, including Russia, China, Brazil. The representative of India abstained, as did the delegates from Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, and Ukraine. 14 countries opposed, including the USA, Israel, Austria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary.
On Friday evening, October 28, Israel announced the expansion of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip. According to IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari, the Israeli army "continued its offensive activities" and undertook an "expansion of the scale of the ground operation." Israel's ambassador to France, Rafael Morav, later said that the ground operation would take place, but it would be limited. He linked her to the Al-Shifa Hospital, under which, according to Israel, there is a Hamas control and communications center.
Israeli tanks began to enter the Gaza Strip, Israeli media reported with reference to local residents. In the north of the sector, the most powerful bombardments have begun since the beginning of a new round of the conflict, communication has disappeared there. Gunfire and fighting broke out in several places, Hamas said.
