Israel declared the loss of legitimacy of the UN because of the resolution on the truce

Israel's Permanent Representative: The UN has lost legitimacy because of the resolution on the truce in Gaza

The UN has lost its significance and legitimacy after the approval of the Jordanian resolution on a cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, Israel's permanent representative to the organization Gilad Erdan said in his X (Twitter).

"This is a black day for the UN, which has finally lost all significance and legitimacy," Erdan said. According to the Permanent Representative, the countries that abstained from voting actually contributed to the adoption of the Jordanian resolution. Although even if they were against it, the project would still be accepted, "but on the verge of a vote."

On the evening of October 27, the UN General Assembly adopted a Jordanian draft resolution that called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and truce. The resolution was supported by 120 countries, including Russia and China, opposed by the United States and Israel. At the same time, the General Assembly did not adopt the Canadian draft, which provided for the condemnation of the "terrorist activities" of Hamas. The document did not gain a majority of votes, Russia, China and most Islamic countries opposed it.

On the evening of October 27, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the expansion of ground military operations in the Gaza Strip. Army spokesman Daniel Hagari clarified that "in recent hours, the army has increased the pace of attacks in the Gaza Strip," striking "underground targets and terrorist infrastructure." IDF Spokesman for International Relations Peter Lerner stressed that these actions are not the beginning of a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, representatives of Hamas announced the invasion of Israeli forces in the north of the Gaza Strip, fighting is going on there. Earlier, several publications reported that the Israeli military entered the region, and Sky News Arabia noted that Israeli tanks were moving along the border of the Gaza Strip near the city of Beit Hanoun.
