Kremlin: Kim Jong-un will visit Russia in the coming days
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will pay a visit to Russia in the coming days, the Kremlin's press service reports.
"The Chairman of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-un, will pay an official visit to the Russian Federation in the coming days," the publication on the website says Kremlin.ru .
The Kremlin clarified that the trip will take place at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On September 5, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov did not comment on the information about the preparation of Kim Jong-un's visit to Russia.
The question was asked in connection with the publication of The New York Times newspaper, which reported that the Korean leader will soon visit Russia and may meet with President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, where the Eastern Economic Forum is being held from September 10 to 13.
"We have nothing to say to you on this topic," Peskov replied then.
On September 11, South Korean TV channel YTN, citing a senior government source, reported that Kim had already left by train from Pyongyang for Russia. The meeting of the two leaders, as specified by YTN, should take place on September 13. This was confirmed to RBC by a source in the Russian delegation. He added that the meeting will not be within the framework of the WEF.
